Amarius Mims — a 340-pound, 6-foot-1 offensive tackle — has stunned NFL scouts with his speed in the 40-yard dash, completing it in just 5.07 seconds.

The 21-year-old Georgia native, who played for the Bulldogs the past three years, is widely considered a first-round pick and is a top 20 pick in this year’s NFL Draft with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Dallas Cowboys . and San Francisco 49ers with interest.

But it appears Mims injured himself before his second attempt as he hopes to be available for Georgia’s pro day workout for NFL scouts in Athens on March 13.

“Georgia OT Amarius Mims just told me he is dealing with a right hamstring injury,” NFL Network’s Stacey Daley tweeted Sunday, adding that “he doesn’t know the severity of the injury.

“He wants to continue testing and competing at the combine. But he has ice on his hamstring now.”

Mims, a Preseason All-SEC First Team selection at right tackle, played in just seven games last season. He was ruled out of Georgia’s conference opener against South Carolina due to an ankle injury, which caused him to miss six games and require surgery.

He returned to the Bulldogs’ starting core against Ole Miss, but injured his ankle early in the SEC Championship loss to Alabama, leaving the game in the first half and forcing Georgia to reshuffle its offensive line.

Mims traveled to Miami with his teammates, but was ultimately excluded from the team’s Orange Bowl victory over No. 5 Florida State.

“To be honest, I’ve never had an injury in college that kept me out for so long,” Mims said in February. “What I’ve learned about myself is that I have a heart. A lot of people could have said, ‘You know what, I’ll shut it down. I’ve missed six games, which is a big majority of the year.” But I’ve learned that I can come back and play as well as I’ve been playing. I have a heart, man. That is the most important.’

In 30 games played over three seasons at Georgia, Mims made just eight starts. He is listed by ESPN NFL Insider Field Yates as the No. 5 offensive tackle for the 2024 NFL Draft. Mims is a two-time CFP national champion (2021, 2022).
