Georgia Toffolo opens up about her ‘all-consuming’ acne battle and reveals how it affected her confidence

Georgia Toffolo has opened up about her struggle with acne and how it has affected her self-confidence.

The former Made In Chelsea star, 29, has previously spoken about her “all-consuming battle” with the skin condition after first suffering from it as a teenager.

Georgia – nicknamed Toff – has partnered with Philips for a new confidence-building campaign, and as a result has started to reflect on her own self-confidence.

The I'm A Celebrity winner said her jungle experience – where make-up is famously treated as a luxury item and not worn – was the start of her “weird little journey” with her skin.

And when she returned to the South Africa All Stars series in 2023, Toff went bare-faced on TV again.

In an interview with MailOnline, she admitted: 'I was really nervous about that.

“And it was so weird. I thought my skin would have been a lot better, but it wasn't.

“Over the years, I've found that all the tests I've had and everything I've tried caused skin flare-ups that were strongly linked to stress levels.”

She previously said she didn't feel quite like herself on the show without her “war paint” and the ability to cover up with concealer when she had a flare-up during filming.

Toff has now partnered with Philips to celebrate the launch of the new Sonicare DiamondClean Prestige 9900 and its confidence-building campaign.

Toff – who has been very open about her own journey to self-confidence – has helped boost the confidence of others by sharing research showing that the average Brit needs an average of sixteen boosts per month to feel their best.

This includes having freshly brushed teeth, receiving compliments and getting the correct answer to a quiz question.

She continued, “I talked about it a lot during this campaign, and it was great.

'I've always tried to divert people's attention to my smile, which I've always loved, as opposed to perhaps the more severe acne I've had around my cheeks.

“This campaign that I'm working on and the diamond-clean prestige has been a dream for me because I honestly think that faking it until you make it with a smile is one of the most powerful things you can do because it's like a show outside.'

Despite her past problems, Toff says she now 'feels good' and is 'confident'.

She continued, “My skin was something that actually made me feel less confident.

“I had some light trolling when I came out of the jungle. But I did this amazing feature on This Morning and it was very simple: I just took my make-up off.

'I was so worried about what people would say about my acne. But I just kept going. I looked down the barrel of the camera. I said some of the nasty things I've read on social media, and it had such an impact.

“From that day on, the trolling seemed to disappear.”

Toff previously revealed that she “lived in fear” that people would find out how bad her acne was at the height of her breakouts when she was younger.

The former MIC favorite told how she had a 'terribly low opinion of herself' at the time in her ITV documentary In Search Of Perfect Skin.

She said she gets up very early every morning to have enough time to cover herself with layers of makeup.

In June, she revealed she was getting a Potenza treatment, which she said would help with acne scars by using radiofrequency and microneedling technology.
