Georgia Toffolo has opened up about her “all-consuming” acne battle that began as a teenager during an appearance on Wednesday’s Lorraine episode.

The former Made In Chelsea star, 28, admitted to going to great lengths to hide her skin and described the effects it has had on her confidence.

Georgia’s appearance comes ahead of the release of her new documentary, Georgia Toffolo: In Search of Perfect Skin, which airs tonight on ITV.

Describing the impact the problem has caused, Georgia said, “I don’t think I would have had the confidence to start my career before because of my acne.”

Georgia – aka Toff – touched on the subject on the morning show, saying, “Acne starts when you’re very young, in your formative years.” Mine started when I was 13, I’ve been open about it and done everything I could to hide it.”

Georgia explained how she would wear layers of makeup to cover up her blotchy and scarred skin, admitting, “I’ve been hiding behind it for so long.”

Lorraine told Georgia she had no idea she struggled with acne, and Georgia said, “It’s great not to hear from you about me and acne together.” When you suffer from something like this, your acne is all-consuming.”

Georgia also referred to the psychological effects of the drugs prescribed to treat acne.

She said: ‘What the documentary shows is that when the drugs are prescribed, they are very harsh and there are some psychological effects’ [when you take medication for acne].

She also spoke to a mother whose teen committed suicide while on medication, saying, “It makes me really emotional when I talk about it now.”

Alongside a clip from the show, Georgia said, “Let’s bare some skin, it’s time to stop hiding and be honest with what we’re going through.”

“I can’t wait for you to see what I’ve been working on for so long!”

The clip shows how Georgia’s acne journey started with “a few teenage blemishes,” before turning into “problematic severe acne.”

Georgia heartbreakingly revealed her feelings for herself, including “hate” and “anger.”

The reality personality also shared a montage of clips of her skin in various stages, drawing on the importance of being “vulnerable.”
