Georgia has opened as the betting favorite to win the 2025 College Football Playoff after Michigan defeated Washington in the national championship on Monday night.

The Bulldogs started the season 12-0, but lost to Alabama in the SEC Championship and the Crimson Tide earned a spot in the Playoff above them.

However, Georgia finished the season strong by beating Florida State 63-3 in the Orange Bowl, and have now been given 17-4 odds by ESPN BET to win the title next season.

Newly crowned champion Michigan, meanwhile, received just the fourth-highest odds at 9-1, tied with Texas.

Wolverines coach Jim Harbaugh has remained cagey about whether he will return to the school or possibly take the leap back to the NFL.

National semifinalist Alabama, which lost to Michigan in overtime in the Rose Bowl, has the second-best odds going into next season at 6-1.

Ohio State is third at 8-1.

Washington, running back quarterback Michael Penix Jr. will lose in the NFL Draft, has extremely high odds at 60-1.

James Madison leads the pack among non-Power 5 teams, with 400-1 odds according to ESPN BET to win the 2025 title.

The College Football Playoff will expand from four to 12 teams next year, giving more schools the opportunity to compete for a national championship.

Under that format, teams like Florida State, Georgia, Ohio State and Oregon would have made the Playoff this season.
