After weeks of waiting for his invite to this year’s Masters, PGA golfer Scott Stallings received a welcome message on Twitter this week from none other than Scott Stallings.

Due to understandable confusion, the pro golfer’s invitation was given to an amateur golfer with the same name.

“Hi Scott,” read a direct message sent to the PGA Tour member. ‘My name is also Scott Stallings and I’m from GA. My wife’s name is also Jennifer!

‘I received a FedEx today from the Masters inviting me to play in the Master’s (sic) Tournament on April 6-9, 2023. I am [100 percent] This is definitely NOT for me. I play but wow! Nowhere (sic) near his level.

As it turns out, the Masters invitation was delivered to fan Scott Stallings’ condo, but he quickly realized it wasn’t intended for him.

‘I play, but wow!’ the direct message said. Not even close to your level. It’s a very nice package complete with everything you need to attend. I think we have some confusion about our names, our wife’s names and geographic location. I can be contacted at [redacted] and I am more than happy to send you this package.’

The ‘other’ Scott Stallings ended his message with: ‘I’m not really kidding, I promise.’

The story has been confirmed by Stallings’ agent on GolfChannel.com, without mentioning Stallings’ own Twitter account.

“I had literally been checking my mailbox five times a day and then got this random direct message yesterday,” Stallings, the Tour pro, tweeted Monday.

Stallings has won the tour three times, finishing first at the Greenbrier Classic in 2011, the True South Classic in 2012, and the Farmers Insurance Open in 2014. He has finished 27th at Augusta National.

Like many pros, Stallings was accompanied by his family during the Augusta Par 3 Tournament, which is a light-hearted event that precedes the Masters. Stallings’ toddlers Finn and Millie were spotted dressed as caddies in 2014, much to the delight of the adoring crowd.
