Knight was charged with one count of inappropriate sexual contact by an employee, officer or foster parent.

The school district approved Knight’s resignation from Toombs County High School on April 11, according to their meeting agenda.

Knight is licensed to teach agriculture in Georgia.

Assistant Principal Tabatha Nobles told DailyMail.com: ‘The Toombs County School System was recently notified by law enforcement of an investigation into an allegation that we had no prior knowledge of a former employee who was allegedly involved in an inappropriate relationship with a student.

“The Toombs County School System will fully cooperate with law enforcement during this investigation.”

In Georgia, the punishment for the charges against Knight can vary depending on the severity. For first-degree misdemeanors, those found guilty can face between one and 25 years in prison, plus a fine of up to $100,000.

This comes just months after a former high school teacher was sentenced to 13 years in prison after she admitted to having sex with a student as many as 30 times, including once during a school trip to Washington DC.

Heather Hare, 33, was a family consumer science teacher at Bryant High School in Little Rock, Arkansas. Her relationship with the student occurred between August 2021 and April 2022.

Investigators discovered that Hare had sex with the student in her car, her home, and even in her classroom. The student was a senior at the time. They were meeting for the first time, and she was assigned to provide him with one-on-one counseling.

At one point, the teacher confessed to the teenager that she fantasized about having sex in the home she shared with her husband and young daughter.

The couple’s relationship grew through messages on Instagram and Snapchat. In April 2022, they had sex during a field trip to the country’s capital.

Exactly 12 months later, Hare was arrested on suspicion of first-degree sexual assault.
