Georgia graduate MOVES her leg for the first time after being paralyzed during neck adjustment 

A 28-year-old Georgia Southern graduate left paralyzed after a neck adjustment moved her leg for the first time in nearly two months since the shocking incident. 

‘At first, we weren’t sure if it was simply spasticity, but then she did it again. And again,’ Caitlin Jensen’s mother, Darlene shared in a video on Facebook on August 1.

Caitlin was hospitalized on June 16 after a routine chiropractor appointment by Dr. TJ Harpham, 42, left her with four ruptured arteries that led to a stroke and three heart attacks.

Jensen, who read chemistry and biology at college, was only able to wiggle her toes and open her eyes after she quickly became ill after visiting Harpham to treat back pain.

Now Caitlin, who is being treated at Memorial Health University Center in Savannah, Ga., can move her right leg, arm and hand.

‘Can you move it,’ a voice can be heard telling Caitlin in the background of the video posted by Darlene. ‘Look at you! Oh my goodness.’

Caitlin showed off a big smile as she moved her leg back and forth.

‘She will do an ICU to ICU transfer next week. IT’S GO TIME!!!!’

Caitlin has gradually been increasing in movement on the right side of her body since the incident

Caitlin’s mom, Darlene, documented her daughters progress on July 38. Darlene shared Caitlin can now lift ‘her arm from the elbow and threw a little ball.’ 

Before the remarkable movement Darlene shared, her daughter was gradually making process despite setbacks of continuing to battle pneumonia. 

‘A few days ago, Caitlin lifted her arm from the elbow and threw a little ball,’ Darlene wrote on Facebook on July 28. ‘Now, she can lift her upper arm. Yesterday, she was able to grasp a tissue and wipe her mouth. These are enormous accomplishments for her! 

‘She can also turn her head to the right. She cannot willingly move her right limbs YET, but we have hope that she will be able to reconnect those pathways in the brain.’ 

Caitlin’s mom, Darlene, is optimistic her daughter will recover after she suffered a stroke. The 28-year-old had gone to the chiropractor to address back pain

Caitlin’s mother Darlene previously told DailyMail.com that her daughter had been to Harpham on several occasions to address neck stiffness she was experiencing from ‘sitting at her desk for months working on her last classes,’ but had never undergone a neck adjustment, according to her mom.

‘You don’t think that a 28-year-old healthy woman is going to be having such an emergency and having a stroke,’ she said.

Darlene previously recalled the shocking call she received from Harpham on her daughter’s phone. 

‘I just thought maybe she was dizzy,’ Darlene said. ‘It didn’t ever occur to me that it was a serious event. I just thought maybe she stood up too fast or she was slightly dizzy and they were being over cautious.’

‘I thought no big deal, I’ll go check on her. When I got there, I could very quickly see that we were in a serious situation.’

Darlene said she was by her daughter’s side when her heart stopped for 10 minutes.

‘They had done a CAT scan and brought her boyfriend and I back into the room to be with her and she started to deteriorate. They were trying to get her back to CAT scan and that’s when she went into cardiac arrest. We were there with her.’

Chiropractor TJ Harpham was seen arriving at Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport with his family on July 18 amid the controversy surrounding his patient who was left paralyzed after he allegedly treated her 

Meanwhile, Harpham, 42, hasn’t commented on the incident, but was seen arriving at Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport amid the controversy on July 18. 

Harpham declined to discuss the incident with a DailyMail.com reporter, saying: ‘No, I have no comment. I have no comment about her or any other patient.’ 

At the time of Caitlin’s chiropractic accident, he said an incident like the 28-year-old’s has never happened before, Caitlin’s grandmother, Linda Foster, previously told DailyMail.com. 

‘I think [Caitlin’s mother] Darlene is considering a medical malpractice suit – she has been advised to, I know. 

‘It’s just because we want people to know and we want to take care of Caitlin. It’s going to be a life-changing event for her no matter what her outcome is.

‘There will be physical therapy and they’ll have to refit their house – as it is, she won’t even be able to get in the house with the steps at the back and the front.’
