Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck has season-ending surgery at the worst possible time

Georgia starting quarterback Carson Beck will officially miss the remainder of the college football season after undergoing elbow surgery on Monday, the school confirmed.

Beck was injured in the Southeastern Conference championship game against Texas and had to come off the field in obvious pain.

Beck’s UCL surgery was performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache and is expected to resume throwing in the spring.

ElAttrache is known in the sports world as the surgeon to Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Kobe Bryant, Shohei Ohtani, Brooks Koepka and others.

Beck is in his second season as the Bulldogs’ starter, with a 24-3 record as a signal caller since taking over for Stetson Bennett.

Georgia will play Notre Dame on New Year’s Day in the quarterfinals of the College Football Playoff. Gunner Stockton will likely lead the Georgia attack for the rest of the season.

Stockton replaced Beck in the second half against Texas and held off one of the nation’s top teams to claim the first SEC title as a 16-team conference.

Beck’s play has come under more fire from fans this season than in 2023, as he had 28 touchdowns, but an increase, with a dozen interceptions.

Beck could enter the NFL Draft, but he can still attend college, giving him options for his future.

Should he opt for the NFL, Beck is not among the top group of quarterback prospects but should be drafted.

Beck’s future in Georgia would also be uncertain as he could opt to enter the transfer portal for his final college season with plenty of good weapons in Athens.
