Philanthropist George Soros was spotted relaxing in Barbados, just months after ceding control of his $25 billion empire to his son Alex.
Soros, 93, waded into crystal clear waters on a beach in Bridgetown, the island's capital, with the help of several younger men.
After the swim, the men helped him back to the beach, where he sat on a shady chair, out of reach of the bright sun.
In June, Soros handed over his empire to 38-year-old Alex, who vowed to use the family fortune to advocate for causes such as voter rights and gender equality.
The Hungarian-born billionaire had a net worth of approximately $6.7 billion as of October 2023, after building his impressive wealth by managing hedge funds.
His nonprofit network, the Open Society Foundations, sends about $1.5 billion annually to groups supporting human rights around the world. Alex was elected chairman in December 2023, replacing his father.
Over the years, Soros has thrown millions behind liberal prosecutors through outright donations or political action committees, which right-wing critics attribute to a breakdown of law and order in the United States.
