‘That wasn’t very Mormon of you!’ Serial liar George Santos chides Mitt Romney for telling him to “shut up and go to the back of the room” before their tense State of the Union showdown

  • Rep. George Santos said it wasn’t the first time he’s been told to shut up.
  • He vowed never to be pushed around by people from a “privileged background.”
  • In the State of the Union address, Sen. Mitt Romney called Santos a ‘jerk’

Serial liar George Santos had strong words for Sen. Mitt Romney after the politician rebuked him before last night’s State of the Union address.

Santos, who has been caught up in a litany of blatant lies since he was elected last year, said it was “reprehensible” for Romney to call him “degrading” language, adding that it was “not very Mormon of him.”

Last night, Romney was filmed tearing up Santos before last night’s speech, appearing to tell the New York politician “you don’t belong here” and calling him a ‘to**.’

After the speech, Santos told reporters that the confrontation was not the first time someone from a “privileged background” had tried to boss him around and vowed never to back down.

The New York Republican, who was caught fabricating his college and employment history as well as his status as a volleyball champion and claiming his mother was at the World Trade Center on the day of the 9/11 attacks, is currently facing a House Ethics Investigation. He told CNN that he’s “not worried” about it.

Santos sounded passionate and angry as he recalled his interaction with Romney.

“It’s not the first time in history that I’ve been told to shut up and go to the back of the room,” he said. “Especially by people who come from a privileged background.”

He then took a defiant position, vowing that he would not be deterred.

“And it won’t be the last, and I will never shut up and go to the back of the room, and I think it’s reprehensible for the senator to say such a thing to me in the demeaning way he said it.”

“That wasn’t very Mormon of him, that’s what I can’t tell you,” he added before leaving.

During last night’s speech, Santos took an aisle seat that would guarantee him prominent visibility during television broadcasts of the speech, as well as placing him in a prime position to shake hands with Supreme Court judges, cabinet secretaries and even the president entering the chamber.

But Santos got much more than he bargained for. Video footage showed Senator Mitt Romney confronting the serial liar, saying what appeared to be “You don’t belong here.”

Santos, seemed surprised, even as he appeared to shoot the Senator.

Romney appeared to repeat the same words multiple times to Santos, which appeared to include various warnings, including calling him a “jerk.”

Romney and Santos clashed as members took their seats before the speech.

After the speech, Romney told reporters that he expected Santos to be ousted from Congress soon.

“He shouldn’t be in Congress and they’re going to go through the process and hopefully get him out,” Romney said. “But he shouldn’t be there and if he had any shame, he wouldn’t be there.”

Santos described the meeting with Semafor reporter Kadia Goba.

He claimed that Romney began by saying “you don’t belong here.”

“Go and tell the 142,000 who voted,” Santos said in response.

“You’re an idiot,” says Romney. “You’re a much bigger idiot,” Santos replies.

Santos, who at first ran through the halls of the Capitol to avoid reporters and not tell his lies, has now adopted a more aggressive media strategy.

‘Hi @MittRomney, just a reminder that you will NEVER be PRESIDENT!’ she tweeted after the terse exchange gained traction on Twitter.
