George and Amal Clooney’s sprawling £20million mansion in Berkshire has been hit by flooding again after heavy rain.

Aerial photographs show that the manicured gardens on the Sonning estate are beginning to succumb to flooding.

The Ocean’s Eleven Hollywood star, 62, and his lawyer wife, 45, first moved into the picturesque postcard estate in 2016.

But the 17th century property suffered from flooding problems because it was close to the banks of the Thames.

The Clooneys were hit by flooding in January when the tennis court, veranda and most of the previously lush lawn were submerged by the filthy waters of the nearby river.

It happened just under a year after heavy rainfall caused muddy water to flood the gardens.

Britain has been battered by a series of storms in recent months, with Babet, Cairan and Debi leaving a path of destruction.

The couple bought their Grade II listed mansion on a five-acre island near Sonning, Berkshire, for a reported £10 million in September 2014, days before their wedding at the Aman Canal Grande hotel in Venice.

After an extensive 18-month renovation costing several million pounds, the ivy-covered nine-bedroom mansion, which is protected from prying eyes by a row of willows, today boasts a large swimming pool and pool house, a large terrace , a boathouse, an astroturf tennis court and a 12-seat cinema.

George and Amal moved to Sonning after completing their renovation work about a year before the birth of their twins, Ella and Alexander, in June 2017.

However, locals told MailOnline in September that the couple had not been seen in the village for almost two years.

A neighbour, who asked to remain anonymous, said: ‘They used to be around a lot more often, but as far as I know they haven’t been seen for over two years.

‘It’s pretty common knowledge that they don’t live here anymore, at least not permanently. They’re never here.’

A source close to the family said the couple are now splitting their time between Italy and the US.

They are believed to be most often located at Villa Oleandra, an 18th-century pile on the shore of Lake Como.
