Gemma Owen reveals it’s been ‘challenging’ time amid her split with Luca Bish

Love Island’s Gemma Owen has revealed it’s been “challenging” dealing with “people’s opinions” amid her split from boyfriend Luca Bish.

The 19-year-old dressage rider and the 23-year-old fishmonger parted ways on several occasions before finally deciding to go their separate ways last month after they failed to patch things up on a make-or-break holiday.

speaking to Goss.es At the PrettyLittleThing Christmas party in Dublin on Tuesday night, Gemma said she’s getting over the breakup by keeping busy.

She told the publication: ‘These last few weeks, like going through any breakup, it’s not pretty. It’s not a good time.

“Having to deal with people’s opinions, and having people think they know what’s going on when they don’t, has been a challenge. But overall, I’m fine. I’m getting over it and keeping busy.

Gemma added: ‘The girls have been lovely. Every single one of them has texted me, being there, telling me that if I ever need a call, they’ll be there. That’s really lovely and makes it a bit easier.

Gemma’s appearance at the PrettyLittleThing festive party comes after she announced her split from boyfriend Luca, whom she met on Love Island this summer.

Gemma and Luca went their separate ways on several occasions before finally deciding to go their separate ways after they failed to patch things up on a make-or-break vacation.

Gemma and former fishmonger Luca, who finished runners-up at Love Island, called it quits last month.

They were last pictured together on November 5 celebrating the night of fireworks, with Luca, 23, saying he had scored “another first” with Gemma.

A source close to the couple told MailOnline of the split at the time: ‘Gemma and Luca have decided to separate.

“Their relationship hasn’t worked out for the past few weeks and they’ve come to the conclusion that it’s better for both of them to end things now.

They hope to remain friends and will continue to support each other in everything they do in the future.

“Love Island was a special time in their lives, but sadly their romance hasn’t felt the same outside of the village.”

Taking to Instagram to confirm the split, Gemma wrote: ‘To all my followers, I wanted to let you know that Luca and I are no longer in a relationship. It wasn’t an easy decision, but ultimately this is what’s best for both of us right now.

‘Many of you have been on this journey with us from the very beginning and I want to thank you for your continued support as we begin new chapters. Love always, Gem x.’

Sharing his own statement on social media, Luca wrote: “I would have liked some time to process this in private, but as you all know by now Gemma and I have unfortunately made a mutual decision today to go our separate ways.”

“We have been on such a journey together and have created some amazing memories that I will treasure. I can’t thank everyone enough for all their support as a couple during and after Love Island.

“We will remain good friends and I wish nothing but the best for her.”
