Mum wows with ‘life-changing’ foil trick that cuts ironing time in half: ‘How did I not know this?’
A savvy mum has revealed a ‘genius’ life hack that can halve the amount of time you spend ironing an unlikely pantry item.
In a now viral video, Gemma Bird from Essex grabbed some aluminum foil, spread it out under the ironing board cover and placed the cover back on top.
By adding the foil, only one side of the clean laundry needs to be ironed, because it reflects the heat.
‘Did you know this? This is amazing, it saves half the ironing time, which means you use half the energy!’ she wrote.
‘And if you hate ironing like me, this is a win-win! You don’t have to replace the foil, you can keep the same foil for months! Make sure you apply it smoothly and a good tip is to pull the cover back so it can air out.’
Gemma Bird from Essex placed aluminum foil under the ironing board cover. This means that only one side of each garment needs to be ironed
“You only need to iron one side (of your garment) as the foil reflects the heat and conditions the other side,” Gemma wrote.
‘In addition to energy, this also saves you time and money.’
The short clip has since been viewed a whopping 611,000 times, with many praising Gemma for sharing the tip.
Although not everyone was convinced, as some admitted that they hardly iron their clothes.
“I only iron one side anyway,” someone wrote.
‘I love this hack. Is it bad that I don’t iron? Haha,” another added.
Someone else shared their own tip, saying: ‘Place it in the washing machine with a slightly damp flannel; the steam will remove the wrinkles in about five minutes.”
“You only need to iron one side (of your item) as the foil will reflect the heat and the other side will last,” wrote Gemma (stock image)
Earlier this week, an Australian mum revealed her secret olive oil ‘hack’ to stop pots from boiling over – and it works every time.
Leanne Neiland, from Queensland, was fed up with having to deal with her pans constantly overflowing with boiling water, ruining her cooking experience.
The mother-of-two finally discovered a kitchen hack that ensured this would never happen again – and all she had to do was brush the edge of her plate with olive oil.
