Bond girl Gemma Arterton has revealed that all her sex scenes are now carefully choreographed by intimacy coordinators in the wake of the #MeToo movement.
And the 38-year-old actress highlighted the stark contrast to her experiences as a young performer, who was given no say in whether or not to do an intimate scene.
Arterton, best known for his role as intelligence agent Strawberry Fields in the 2008 Bond film Quantum Of Solace, said: ‘Once I was just blindsided by a sex scene.
“Like, ‘This is what’s going to happen,’ and I did it. That wouldn’t happen now, with intimacy coordinators.”
‘I’m very happy that we now have intimacy coordinators. It takes away the unknown.
‘There is no ambiguity. It feels a bit prescriptive, but then it’s like learning an accent, a fight or a dance: you first have to go through the motions, then you make it feel more spontaneous and relaxing.’

Arterton, best known for playing intelligence agent Strawberry Fields in the 2008 Bond film Quantum Of Solace, has said that intimacy coordinators have been a good addition to sets.
Arterton also revealed that there is now a confidential line at the top of every film call sheet to call if an actor is going through something.
The actress told Times magazine that she still worries about the effects sex scenes have on younger actors. ‘I said no [to a sex scene] another time, when I felt a little more powerful,” she said.
“That’s why I worry about younger actors, or expendable actors. I’ve heard stories from actor friends who are less established or just starting out, where they felt like they couldn’t say anything because they would get fired. That’s really terrible.’
She revealed other ways the film industry has changed following the rise of the #MeToo movement, which gave a voice to survivors of sexual harassment and assault.
She added: ‘At the top of each call sheet there is a number to call if you are going through something.
‘It’s completely anonymous. That’s really great, because that wasn’t there yet. A lot has changed. If there is bullying, there are contact points where you can go.’
Arterton stars in the new thriller Culprits, which will be available to stream on ITVX from December 19.
