Geelong man Kyle Bloom exacts brutal revenge with a meat tenderiser on his uncle after finding out he was sleeping with his ex
A tattooed drug dealer who attacked his uncle in a rage after discovering a relative of his was having an affair with his ex-girlfriend has been jailed.
Kyle Bloom, 26, was sentenced to 23 months in prison when he appeared via video link in Victoria’s Warrnambool District Court on Thursday.
He had already pleaded guilty to charges including aggravated burglary and assault.
The court heard that in August 2023, Bloom was told by his sister that his ex-girlfriend was having an affair with his uncle.
The sister told Bloom that she had gotten into a “fight” with his ex and that both she and their uncle had treated her “like shit” by ignoring her when she visited them, the Advertiser in Geelong reported.
The court heard Bloom then rode his bicycle to his ex-partner’s house in Geelong’s north, where he shouted for his uncle to come outside.
When the uncle didn’t come out, Bloom banged on the front door and forced a window to get in.
Bloom hit his uncle over the head with a meat mallet, saying he was going to “hurt the hell out of him.”

The court was told that Bloom then asked his uncle: “Why did you treat my sister like shit and me like a goose?”
Bloom also sent a message to his ex-partner, calling her a “dog” and a “s**t” and threatening to burn her house down.
The night of the incident, Bloom had assaulted his uncle. He was high on the drug and GHB.
He was also released on bail and sentenced to community service.
The court heard that after serving a month in prison in May last year, Bloom “immediately” visited his drug dealer and began using and selling drugs again.
The court heard that Bloom’s criminal record began in 2015 when he appeared in juvenile court for the theft of a car.
His drug abuse began shortly after he left school.
Bloom told a psychologist he had been jailed six times and had used acid, ice, cannabis, MDMA, cocaine, opiates and benzodiazepines.
Bloom appeared via video link in Warrnambool District Court (pictured), where the judge described the attack on his uncle as premeditated.
In sentencing, Judge George Georgiou said that while Bloom had underlying mental health issues, he did not believe these played a role in the offence, saying his drug use was the main factor.
“You were angry and drug-driven when you committed the crimes,” he said.
The judge rejected the defense’s request for a combination of prison time and a CCO.
“Being under the influence of illegal drugs is no excuse or mitigating factor,” Judge Georgiou said.
The judge also ruled that Bloom’s burglary was spontaneous and unplanned, but that the attack on his uncle was premeditated.
Although no victim impact statements were presented to the court, the judge said he could “consider from the circumstances that this must have been a terrifying incident”.
Bloom will be eligible for parole after he serves 13 months of his sentence.
His 335 days of pre-trial detention will be deducted from his sentence, meaning he could be released as early as September.
