Emma, ​​the wife of Geordie Shore star Gaz Beadle, reflected on her open heart surgery and recovery journey on Wednesday – 12 weeks later.

Emma, ​​30, who has had an abnormality since birth, underwent the procedure to repair three holes in her heart and her tricuspid valve – which controls blood flow between the right atrium and right ventricle.

On Instagram, Emma revealed that the surgery has allowed her to enjoy her life with her children again and that she has found herself.

The mother-of-two shared several photos of herself in hospital and recovering, writing, “I can’t believe it’s been 12 weeks since my open heart surgery. I can’t believe the change in my life already.

“I’ve talked to so many people who will have the same surgery and the best advice I can give is don’t let the fear of it control your life because I did this.”

She continued, “It’s a huge operation, a very tough and very slow recovery, but do it at your own pace.

“Don’t force yourself to do more than your body can handle and you’ll feel brand new by the end of it.”

“I feel like I’ve found myself again, I feel like I can enjoy my life and my kids so much more now.”

It comes after Emma spoke in March about her fear of not waking up after surgery.

Emma revealed she was terrified of not seeing her husband, 35, and two children again.

She candidly said she had “mentally prepared” herself for their “final goodbyes” when her family dropped her off at the hospital.

She said The sun of her ordeal: “They came to the hospital to drop me off and Gary had to drive off with kids crying after we said goodbye. That was the hardest part. I had to mentally prepare myself that it could be my last goodbye.

“I knew that during surgery I would be hooked up to a heart machine that would keep me alive while my heart was stopped, and I kept thinking, ‘They won’t be able to start my heart again,’ I thought, ‘I’m going in fall asleep and I can’t get out.”

The doting mum, who shares Chester, five, and Primrose, three, with Gaz, shared how she had prepared a special scavenger hunt for her children before leaving for the hospital to ‘distract them’ from her absence and also to have a ‘ happy memory of her.

Emma also spoke of the tough recovery from the six-hour operation, which left her with difficulty moving and in immense pain.

She said, “I had a big tube in my neck with a lot of wires coming out of it. I couldn’t sit up or lie on my side and because the morphine made me sick I didn’t want to hit my morphine button, so I probably didn’t take as much medicine as I should, which only made the pain worse.’

However, Emma’s recovery took a major setback when she subsequently suffered a collapsed lung, which then caused surgical emphysema, which is a rare lung condition where air gets trapped under the skin.

However, the beauty quickly recovered and six days later she was allowed to return home to her family.

In the aftermath of her procedure, Emma took to her Instagram where she expressed her gratitude to the medical staff who helped her through her difficult time.

She wrote, “I came in this month with a healthy heart, I will never be able to thank my surgeon, doctors, nurses and everyone else involved. I had 2 small holes, 1 large hole and my triscupid valve repaired.

“They’ve given me a new life to enjoy with my babies and they really don’t get the credit they deserve.”

‘I’ve come this far since this photo 2 weeks ago, right after it was taken I was crying and throwing up, I couldn’t move, while my brother and mother switched buckets under my chin.

She continued, “Day 2 I cried in pain trying to take a deep breath and cough, on day 3 I wondered how I could ever get myself out of bed.

“Here I am now, I left the house yesterday and watched the kids play outside on their bikes and I’ve never been happier.”

Emma had suffered from seizures, exhaustion and fainting for years as a result of her condition.

She also suffered from ulcerative colitis (an autoimmune disease of the bowel in which the colon becomes inflamed and ulcerated) and was left with an eight-inch scar after her heart surgery.

And the star has since been praised for normalizing scars after sharing a photo of her scar on social media.

Emma insisted she didn’t want to “hide it” from her kids or on social media, sharing how she wants to show kids undergoing heart surgery that a scar is “something to be proud of.”

Meanwhile, after making a full recovery, Emma shared her joy that she and Gaz can now try for a third baby – after learning that carrying her first two children could prove fatal due to the added strain it would place on her. have caused. heart.

She shared that she would love to have a third child “in the future,” but isn’t ready for a baby that “kicks in my ribs.”

She has previously spoken openly about her health problems, admitting they have led to dramatic weight loss and mean she cannot carry another child without undergoing heart surgery.

Explaining the situation in 2021, Emma shared, “I have three large holes in my heart and damaged tissue causing my blood to flow in the wrong direction, the right side of my heart is now enlarged and weak along with high blood pressure in my lungs.

“This all got a lot worse because they should have been closed when I was a kid. Unfortunately no one checked my heart even when I was having seizures and was diagnosed with epilepsy or passed out like it was a hobby.”
