At Sonia’s hen party, Stacey and Pam Shipman asked Dawn what happened during the night they spent together.
She said, “We were like two field mice frolicking in a meadow!”
It comes after Gavin & Stacey fans spotted a significant error over a location featuring in the Christmas Day special of the hit BBC sitcom.
The episode, which served as the show’s “final,” drew more than 12 million viewers and featured plenty of drama.
From Smithy leaving bride-to-be Sonia (played by Laura Aikman) at the altar to his last-minute proposal to Nessa, it had fans in stitches.
The plot saw Smithy race from Essex to the port of Southampton to prevent Nessa from leaving the UK for a new job, culminating in their wedding.
However, viewers from Southampton pointed out that scenes in the harbor and surrounding areas did not look authentic.
It is now believed that these scenes were filmed more than 100 miles away in Wales, specifically at Newport Docks in Newport.
They went to X and wrote: ‘[Finale] was great but as someone from #Southampton the perception of the harbor was completely wrong.”
‘[Episode] was just sheer perfection (overlooking the location of the ‘Southampton’ dock).”
Their constant on-off relationship was documented in previous series of the BBC show (seen together far right)

First of all, where the hell is this? [crying laughing emoji] ain’t Southampton! Secondly, SOUTHAMPTON IS BIG EVERYWHERE!! #GavinAndStacey
‘Fantastic acting from Newport Docks, who plays Southampton Docks in the Christmas special #GavinAndStacey.’
‘Disgusted. this is not our great Southampton’
‘The way they tried to pass Barry as Southampton made me laugh. There’s no part of Southampton that looks like this.’
One user replied to let them know where it was actually filmed, revealing: ‘And that Port of Southampton was actually Port of Newport’
This isn’t the first time the show has chosen to use Welsh locations as its English setting.
Although Mick Shipman’s home is said to be in Billericay, Larry Lamb previously revealed that the original series was shot entirely in Wales.
Speaking of production Radio timeshe explained: ‘Nobody offered us the opportunity to go to Essex.’
It comes as fans also saw what Smithy’s jilted lover Sonia was in before her appearance with Gavin and Stacey.
When Laura returned to television as Sonia, those who grew up in the 1990s began to realize the actress’s other iconic role: Mysti from The Mysti Show.
Rob wrote in the caption of his photo of Pete and Dawn, “Two prairie voles. #gavinandstaceychristmasspecial’ – a nod to a hilarious moment in the show
The Mysti Show aired from April 2004 to December 2005.
In the show, Laura played the role of a half-human, half-fairy named Mysti.
Each 20-minute episode saw Mysti “conjure her own unique blend of entertainment and comedic drama with celebrity guests.”
In 2000, Laura appeared in an episode of the long-running hospital drama Casualty – the catalyst for a series of guest roles, including appearances in The Bill, Doctors and That Mitchell And Webb Look.
But in 2009 she landed the first of two recurring roles, as Lucy in the hit BBC Three series Personal Affairs and, importantly, in a return to Casualty, this time as Nurse May Phelps.
A third major TV role came in 2016, when Aikman was cast as Lorna Hutchinson for the tenth series of BBC drama Waterloo Road.
Other TV roles include guest appearances in Death In Paradise, Pramface, Citizen Khan and Bluestone 42 – where she met her husband Matt Kennard in 2015.
Laura’s return as Sonia was one that shocked the nation, as even her own parents didn’t know about it until they watched it on Christmas Day.
The actress was ‘hiding out’ in a separate hotel during filming after signing a non-disclosure agreement to protect the big plot twist.
