Gateway Motorway Brisbane: Four hospitalized after seven-car pile-up and truck blowout

A seven-car pile-up and a truck blowout cause chaos on one of Queensland’s busiest highways.
At about 12:45 a.m., a police spokeswoman confirmed that eight cars had collided bumper to bumper on the Gateway Motorway, bringing traffic to a halt.
Paramedics assessed 19 people at the scene, but a spokeswoman for the Queensland Ambulance Service confirmed that none of the patients suffered serious injuries.
The highway was closed to northbound traffic for about 45 minutes before reopening, but with a new speed limit of 60 km/h.

The highway at nearby Eagle Farm remains closed in both directions after a truck blowout led to a collision between truck and car at around 1:05 p.m.
Paramedics have taken four patients, two adults and two children, to Logan Hospital for further treatment.
The condition of the patients is unknown at this time.
Meanwhile, a motorcyclist and passenger caused motorway delays at nearby Murrarie after their bicycle crashed into a barrier near Lytton Rd.
They were not seriously injured in the crash.
