Gary Neville has criticized Lisandro Martinez for his ‘terrible and weak’ defending against Tottenham.
Manchester United headed into half-time trailing after Dominic Solanke’s finish from close range opened the scoring.
Ruben Amorim’s men were 2-0 down just a minute into the second half when Martinez slid the ball into the path of Dejan Kulusevki and the Spurs winger scored.
Neville said: “The next goal was always going to be the key. It’s a bit shabby to start with, but they get there the other way.
“Son, just that little round and overlap from Maddison, a bit of quality. I have to say that Lisandro Martinez’s endorsement is downright terrible.
‘To play that directly against Kulusevski, and although he is on his weaker foot, he does not make the mistakes that the Manchester United players made in the first half when the team presented on the edge of the penalty area. He’s a little closer, but it’s emphatic.
“He was let down by two bad mistakes that Ruben Amorim really made. You talk about structure, shape, patterns, tactics, but the goalkeeper parries one in the middle of the penalty area and your central defender taps away a weak ball with the outside of his left boot.’
