Gary Neville has praised Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher for his ‘world-class’ save to prevent Chelsea’s Cole Palmer from scoring in the Carabao Cup final.

With the match goalless at Wembley, Chelsea pushed forward, with the ball eventually falling to Palmer, who was denied by an excellent stop from Kelleher.

Neville criticized Raheem Sterling for not firing straight away but praised Kelleher for his response to Palmer’s effort.

Neville told Sky Sports: ‘What a save. What a save from Kelleher.

‘Chelsea from nowhere. Robertson charges into midfield for some reason, Van Dijk can’t get over.

Neville described Kelleher’s save in the Carabao Cup final as ‘world class’

‘Raheem Sterling, you think he should hit that first time, why didn’t he?

“But it’s up to Cole Palmer, he’s just trying to get it in the near post, but Kelleher, it’s great.

“He has a world-class goalkeeper in front of him, but he delivered a world-class moment there.”

There was also a lot of praise for Kelleher’s save on social media, with Joey Barton writing: ‘What a save from Kelleher’.

Kelleher played often for Liverpool in the League Cup and scored the decisive penalty in the shootout against Chelsea as Jurgen Klopp’s side won the 2022 final.
