Gary Neville received rave reviews for his performance on Dragon’s Den, with several viewers calling for him to become a regular on the show.

The Manchester United legend joined the cast of the BBC show for the very first time alongside regular tycoons Peter Jones, Deborah Meaden, Touker Suleyman, Sara Davies and Steven Bartlett.

Despite several business ventures ranging from part-owning League Two club Salford City with his former teammates to his luxury hotels in Manchester, some had wondered whether the Red Devil had what it took to become a dragon.

But as Thursday’s episode shows, the 48-year-old feels completely at home in the area. Viewers of the program were largely unanimous in their praise for the former England international.

‘Gary Neville is such a good guy! Pass it on,” one fan wrote on X, formerly Twitter. A second wrote: ‘(Dragon’s Den) one of the best yet, and Gary Neville is top notch!’

A third commented: ‘Gary Neville was absolutely brilliant. Should definitely become a permanent dragon.’

While Neville also received praise for supporting United’s arch-rivals. They wrote: ‘As a huge Liverpool fan I say it, I don’t care…Gary Neville is a decent guy!’

The ex-pro impressed his fellow Dragons with his business savvy, but that didn’t stop him from making mocking comments about the strange battle.

One of those newcomers was former football player Billy Childs, whose company sells shoes used by players. He took the opportunity to reprimand Neville for his most visible job; his role as a pundit on Sky Sports.

“I love that Gary is a dragon here,” the 27-year-old began. ‘Hopefully his interest in my company is greater than his expert opinion on some of the teams defending in the Premier League.’

Ultimately, Childs walked away unsuccessfully, as Neville, despite loving the idea of selling memorabilia, was hesitant, believing players were giving away their boots for financial gain rather than charity.

It wasn’t all rave reviews, however, as some on social media questioned his suitability for the gig.

“Gary Neville on (Dragon’s Den),” wrote one. ‘Failed manager, while the club he co-owns has had countless coaches and sits at the bottom of League 2. Ideal guest.’

Another commented: ‘When did Gary Neville join Dragons Den? I can’t take him seriously.’
