Gary Neville claims Trent Alexander-Arnold was lucky not to receive a second yellow card during the opening stages of Liverpool’s game against Newcastle.
The English right back was booked in the sixth minute of the game after being shoved in the back by Anthony Gordon.
Unsatisfied with the challenge, Alexander-Arnold threw the ball away and was immediately booked by referee John Brooks.
Play continued, with the 24-year-old running across the field to collect the ball from the Magpies, and colliding again with the former Everton man, swinging his arm over Gordon and knocking him against the hit ground.
Walking on a fine line, Alexander-Arnold could have received another yellow and subsequent red card for the challenge, with Gary Neville claiming in commentary for Sky Sports that he was lucky not to be sent off.
“Trent steps to the left and extends his arm over Gordon,” Neville said.
‘He is lucky.
Would Klopp consider replacing him? It’s a cauldron out there.
“He sent Gomez out to warm up. I’m not surprised at all. It must be a serious consideration.’
