Gary Neville has suggested that Gary Lineker has been ousted from his role as lead presenter of BBC MOTD for taking on ‘the Tories and the establishment’.
Neville appears to be rooting for his fellow presenter, who was banned from the BBC’s Match of the Day show for recent comments online that saw him compare the UK government’s asylum seeker policy to Nazi Germany.
Former Manchester United winger turned outspoken pundit, Neville, has increased his political views in recent years and is a strong critic of the current Conservative government.
Neville, a vocal supporter of the workers, supported opposition leader Keir Starmer at a conference in September and has often criticized the government on social media. He has now revealed that ‘the system’ is to blame for Lineker being cancelled.

Lineker has been temporarily relieved of his MOTD presentation duties due to a recent controversial tweet.
The duo were broadcasters for the opposition during the World Cup in Qatar last year with Neville at the helm of ITV and Lineker as the main presenter of the BBC’s coverage of the tournament. However, that rivalry hasn’t stopped Neville from making a show of solidarity.
Lineker has been temporarily removed from his position by the BBC for violating the organization’s social media guidelines in a recent tweet.
The show’s co-host Ian Wright has announced that he will not appear in the upcoming weekend edition, while Alan Shearer has also revealed a similar stance.
The betting odds currently put Jermaine Jenas as the favorite to replace Lineker with Neville an outside favorite to land the iconic role on the football highlights show.

Former Conservative leader William Hague said it was “appropriate” for Gary Lineker to step down as host of Match Of The Day.
“He broke the guidelines that I think the BBC has with comments that are very politicized, something that BBC presenters should not do.
“So that’s against the rules and we have to do something about it, otherwise every presenter can do it on every show,” he told Times Radio.
A broader reaction on social media has seen some of Lineker’s colleagues support him, while others have criticized the experienced broadcaster and agree with his removal.
