Playing for England is many a child’s glamorous dream, but it doesn’t always spare you from the gruesome aspects of life.

Gary Lineker has revealed a grotesque behavior Paul Gascoigne subjected his England teammates to in a place they would consider a haven of cleanliness: the team’s communal bathtub.

The two stars were among the best of their generations, playing together for England and Tottenham.

It also turned out that they had to share a bath – and that’s where things went downhill.

Gascoigne defecated in England’s communal baths after matches, Lineker told Joe Lycett’s Turdcast podcast.

Yes, you read that correctly. Gascoigne relieved himself while bathing with some of the best footballers this country has ever seen.

“Gazza would occasionally let one loose in the big communal bath,” Lineker revealed.

‘It doesn’t exist anymore, but can you believe that used to be the case in sports? At the end of the game you were covered in mud and whatever and you all jumped into the bath together.

‘How big is this bath?’ Joe asked.

‘They vary. Normally I would say the common area would be a big hot tub,” Lineker said.

“There were no air bubbles unless people were clearly farting.”

“Or when Gazza screwed himself up,” Lycett joked.

‘Well. It happened a few times, he did it for laughs. You’ve never seen pools cleared so quickly,” Gary laughed.

Joe then focused on the real shock.

“Sorry, but I like a joke as much as the next guy, but I’ve never seen myself in a bath with anyone else…” he began.

‘No, well, Gazza always found it difficult to know where the line was. On other occasions he was really funny,” Gary replied. “He never lacked the confidence to make a joke.”

Lineker is no stranger to unfortunate bower moves while on international duty.

The former striker made himself famous when he played against Ireland in the 1990 World Cup.
