Garmin Venu 3 looks set to finally get skin temperature tracking

The Garmin Venu 3 could be set to track skin temperature in a future update, expanding the capabilities of the smartwatch and fitness tracker combination.

Gadgets and wearables saw that recently Q4 beta for the Garmin Venu 3, a skin temperature function was added. Garmin was quick to respond to this, noting that it was “accidentally included in the change log and is not yet available for the public beta.” But this nevertheless suggests that the Venu 3 will get such a feature in a future update.

The Garmin Venu 3 has all the appropriate sensors for monitoring skin temperature, but when it was launched, no such features were enabled. In comparison, Apple Watch Series 9 offers the ability to track the wearer’s skin temperature while they sleep.

While skin temperature tracking may not be in the public beta, this is an indication that it could come in future updates; it was also hinted at in a leaked screenshot of the smartwatch earlier this year. So we hope that skin temperature tracking will arrive on the Venu 3 soon, as that would make one of the best smartwatches even better.

To keep up with

For the uninitiated, monitoring skin temperature is a good way to get an indication of what’s going on in your body.

For example, a rising skin temperature can be an indication of the early stages of an infection, or after exercise it can be an indication of the extent to which your body has been stressed by an intense workout. For women, it is also a way to track the menstrual cycle, allowing ovulation to be predicted more accurately than specific calendar apps.

While skin temperature tacking may not be available in the public beta, update 8.32 brings other upgrades such as Red Shift Control to filter out colors so the watch is more visible at night without compromising your night vision, and new activities for racket sports, team sports, etc. sports and more. There’s also the Running Dynamic feature that works on the watch instead of you having to look at your connected phone.

So the beta update 8.32 is definitely worth a look. To get this, go to the Venu 3’s main menu, then settings, then system and tap ‘software update’ to have your watch search for and install the update.
