We all want to enjoy our garden in the summer, but sometimes we get a visit from small and annoying unwanted guests.
But what if we told you there is a cheap and easy way to get rid of pests from your lawn?
And the best part is that no harsh chemicals are required, because you already have this ingredient in your home – and you drink it every morning.
Anne Caserta, who goes by @annalanier2 on TikTok, has gone viral on the social media site for sharing a video of her super easy method.
Users on the site have praised her for sharing the genius hack, saying it’s a “great idea.”

The video has garnered more than 37,000 likes and 8,200 comments when Ms. Caserta showed how she uses coffee to ward off unwanted visitors.
And the best part is – depending on the type of coffee you drink – you can get it for as little as £1.60 in Waitrose.
That’s even cheaper than Tesco Max Strength Insect Repellent Spray, which costs £4.20 for a 125ml bottle.
When explaining the method, the TikToker showed part of her garden, where she sprinkled sparse soil from the Joe over her garden.
She said, “Insects and mosquitoes hate the smell of coffee.
“So I’m going to sprinkle it around the outside of my house. Guess? It smells delicious.’
Insects hate coffee grounds because of the strong smell – and this makes it a super efficient way to keep pests out of your garden.
However, homeowners should be aware that coffee grounds are acidic, which while good for preventing weeds from growing, can damage other plants.
That’s why it’s important to make sure coffee grounds don’t flood your soil.
It is also super important to know that this hack is not recommended for pet owners.
Homeowners should be aware that coffee grounds are acidic. That’s why it’s important to make sure coffee grounds don’t flood your soil
This is because coffee beans, coffee grounds and brewed coffee are very dangerous and toxic to cats and dogs. Caffeine, a methylxanthine, can cause toxicosis when ingested by pets.

One TikTok user said they would try this hack and said, “Thanks guys, I’ll try because we have the worst mosquitoes around my house and bees, I need tips on them too.”
And another chimed in and said, ‘Oh shoot ok I’m going to do this.’
A third wrote, “Boomer here, and I just learned something new. Thanks, I’m going to try this.’
Meanwhile, one person was left in disbelief that this works, as they wrote, ‘Really!!? This is amazing.’
One user also commented, “What!? Not really?’
And another said, “Coffee has so many benefits and also helps to absorb chemical smells or bad smells in general.”
While another jokingly wrote: “That’s why we always run out of coffee at home.”
But one person said that while this hack is great, you have to reapply the terrain regularly, especially when it rains.
They wrote: ‘And when it rains it washes away and you have to do it again. Tried this for black ants eating my potted flowers, so frustrating.”
And others wonder if this trick also works well to get rid of ants, since people on TikTok recommended using “cinnamon” instead.
This is because ants have a sensitive sense of smell and the cinnamon will overwhelm them, repelling them from desirable areas.
However, cinnamon is only used as an ant repellent, not an ant killer, because the spice can only do so much to control the infestation.
