Game Of Thrones graduates to the big screen with upcoming film ‘in the works’ at Warner Bros.
Game of Thrones fans can soon be drawn into the dramatic world of Westeros as it prepares for a cinematic launch.
Warner Bros. has started laying the groundwork for “at least one movie” set in the beloved fantasy world of George RR Martin, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter on Thursday.
Although the project is still in its early stages – without a director, cast or script – sources indicate that Warner Bros. is excited about bringing the rich stories of the Seven Kingdoms to the big screen, the outlet said.
Initially, showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss had intended to conclude the series with a theatrical trilogy instead of the 2019 finale, and Martin himself hinted at the possibility of a movie to THR already in 2014.
Despite the mixed reception to GOT’s final season, the show’s immense success has already spawned a host of spinoffs, including HBO’s House of Dragons.

The show recently wrapped its second season and has already been greenlit for a third.
After this, fans can look forward to A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, a prequel inspired by Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas, premiering next year.
As fans know, the world of Thrones has forayed into the theatrical realm before, when HBO hosted special screenings of pivotal episodes from the original series in select theaters.
In April, Kit Harington, known for his role as Jon Snow in Game of Thrones, announced that plans for a spin-off sequel focusing on his character had been shelved.
The hoped-for series will star Kit, 37, as the title character was pulled from active development at HBO/MAX, according to Screen Rant.
In an interview with the outlet, the British actor confirmed the disappointing news about the sequel.
“I had never actually talked about it because it was in development,” he explained.
“I didn’t want word to get out that it was being developed, and I didn’t want people to theorize or get excited about it or hate the idea of it when it might never happen. ‘

Initially, showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss had planned to conclude the series with a theatrical trilogy instead of the 2019 finale, and Martin himself hinted at the possibility of a movie for THR as far back as 2014.

“Because in development you look at every corner and see if it’s worth it, and right now it’s not,” he said.
“It’s off the table because none of us could find the right story to tell that we were all passionate enough about. That is why we have decided to add instruments for the time being,” he said.
“Maybe there will be a time in the future when we return to it, but not right now. It stands firmly on the shelf.’
The proposed Jon Snow series reportedly lacked enough source material from George RR Martin to develop a storyline beyond the 2019 Game of Thrones finale.
