Tragedy over Easter weekend left two young teenagers dead after a car reportedly driven by a 13-year-old boy crashed into a tree in Ireland.
The two 14-year-old children – locally named Kirsty Bohan and Lukas Joyce – were on their way in the car outside Headford, County Galway when it crashed just before 6am on Easter Monday.
Lukas, believed to be in the passenger seat, died instantly, while Kirsty – who was in the back seat – was rushed to hospital but died shortly afterwards.
Both the young driver and another teenage girl, who was in the back of Kirsty, are now being treated at the hospital.
The injured girl was taken to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin where she was in serious condition yesterday, while the driver’s injuries are not life-threatening.

All four schoolchildren were friends and sophomores at Presentation College Headford, Dublin Live reports.
In a statement last night, the school – who are currently on Easter break – said they had lost “two precious members” of their community.
“We pray for all the families and friends of those affected that they may find some peace and help at this tragic time,” they added.
“We also pray for our own school community, that we may find the strength to support each other and carry on. We ask for your support, prayer and the space to grieve as a school community.’
Although the students are on vacation, the school opened its study hall from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. this afternoon to support all those affected by the tragedy.
“You are all welcome to come and have a cup of tea in a warm and safe environment,” they added.
The public was pictured yesterday and today leaving flowers at the crash site.
As the tributes poured in, City Councilman Andrew Reddington told the Irish mirror yesterday: ‘As a community, we all think of the two families who lost their beloved children.
“There is a dark cloud over the community in Headford. Everyone thinks of the families of the young people who died last night and prays for the people who are in the hospital.

Gardai confirmed they are investigating the collision which occurred at around 5.45am on the L6127 near Glennagarraun in the Ballyfruit area of Headford, County Galway.
A spokesman told MailOnline: ‘The only vehicle involved in this collision had four occupants on board, two boys and two girls, all young teenagers.
“A boy was pronounced dead at the scene. The other three occupants were taken to Galway University Hospital, where a girl has since been pronounced dead.
The other occupants remain at University Hospital Galway for treatment of their injuries.’
Officers confirmed the road has now been reopened as specialists review the families of all involved.
Gardai is now appealing to witnesses and motorists who may have CCTV footage.
