Galatasaray pile pressure on Bayern Munich to knock Man United out of the Champions League, accusing them of ‘not wanting to win’ because they’ve already qualified, telling them ‘we expect a lot’ in Old Trafford decider

  • Okan Buruk lashed out at the Bavarians for not looking like they wanted to win
  • • Manchester United in a mess – they have a collapse in them – It all starts

Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk has hit out at Bayern Munich, accusing the Bundesliga champions of not wanting to beat FC Copenhagen as he urged the Bavarians to beat Manchester United on Tuesday, December 12.

While Thomas Tuchel's side have already qualified for the knockout stages of the Champions League and sit top of Group A with 13 points, they failed to impress in Wednesday's 0-0 draw against Copenhagen as Man United 3-3 draw against Galatasaray.

With one match left to play, United, Galatasaray and Copenhagen can still book their places in the last 16 of the tournament, but each will need different results to achieve their goals.

After the Turkish Super Lig side recovered from trailing United with two goals to seal a draw, they are now level on five points with Copenhagen but could have moved into second place if Bayern reached the halfway mark week had defeated the Danish team.

And their manager, Buruk, has criticized the Bavarian team, claiming he was unhappy. Tuchel's side failed to beat Copenhagen, having already secured a place in the last 16.

Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk has been slammed at Bayern Munich for not looking like they wanted to win during the 0-0 draw against FC Copenhagen

He urged Thomas Tuchel's side to beat Man United next Tuesday to boost the Turkish side's chances of qualifying for the last 16 of the Champions League.

While Erik Ten Hag's hopes of qualifying for the Champions League knockout stages hang by a thread, they can still move on with a win next week.

'We were disappointed that they had to give up points. They rotated for the first time and it didn't look like they wanted to win,” Buruk said Image.

With Bayern traveling to Old Trafford this week, the 50-year-old added: 'We want to win in Copenhagen and get our job done. I have high expectations for Bayern for the last game against Manchester.'

During the match, Bayern conceded nine tries compared to Copenhagen's eight and enjoyed more possession. They could also have been awarded a penalty after Thomas Muller was brought down in the penalty area, but referee Stephanie Rappart allowed play to continue.

Galatasaray will need to beat Copenhagen to progress to the next round of the tournament, but if they lose and Man United win, they could even slip to fourth place in the group and miss out on Europa League qualification.

Buruk claimed he was 'disappointed' that Tuchel's side did not achieve victory against Copenhagen

Despite Bayern having made nine attempts on goal during the match, with Harry Kane failing to get on the scoresheet

And in a rather extraordinary outburst, Buruk has now urged Bayern to beat Man United, before claiming his side had the toughest pick of the games having to play the favorites for qualification on matchdays three and four.

“We are the unlucky team because we had to play Bayern on the third and fourth matchday,” he said of their recent 2-1 defeat at the Allianz Arena and their 3-1 defeat in Istanbul.

In the meantime, Erik ten Hag's hopes of qualifying for the last sixteen hang by a thread. If they beat Bayern next week they can still progress to the last 16 of the tournament, but they need Galatasaray and Copenhagen for a draw.
