Galatasaray ‘could END Hakim Ziyech’s loan after just five months at the club’ with the forgotten Chelsea man ‘ineffective’ at the Turkish outfit amid a season ravaged by injuries

  • Hakim Ziyech could end his move to Galarasaray prematurely
  • The Turkish team is reportedly ready to send an 'ineffective' winger back to Chelsea
  • Ian Ladyman expects Chris Sutton's New Year's resolutions to go up in smoke in less than a week

Galatasaray could end Hakim Ziyech's loan spell from Chelsea, just five months after the winger's difficult spell in the Turkish Super Lig.

Ziyech hoped for a new life at the Istanbul club, but suffered a handful of nagging injuries. He has played just nine times in the Turkish top flight so far, starting six times and scoring twice.

He made 14 appearances in all competitions, with two more goals in the UEFA Champions League, but was 'ineffective' and could not 'perform as expected', the Turkish newspaper said. NTV Spor.

And amid the player's continued struggle to stay fit this season – after missing nine games through injury following problems with his foot and hamstring, Galatasaray are now said to be ready to end his loan deal and send him back to Chelsea.

For now, the 30-year-old will focus on the African Cup of Nations after being called up to Walid Regragui's 27-man squad for the competition.

It has not been an easy year for Ziyech, who fell out of favor at Chelsea under previous managers Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter. The youngest boss Mauricio Pochettino was also not convinced by him and was loaned out.

Last January, Ziyech suffered further grief after a potential move to PSG fell through on deadline day after Chelsea submitted incorrect documents.

He still made 24 appearances in all competitions, although many of those came from the bench as he started just six games in the Premier League and one in the Champions League.

Ziyech was then close to signing for Al-Nassr, but the deal could not take place due to a knee problem discovered during his medical treatment.

Ziyech has made a total of 107 appearances for the Blues since joining from Ajax for £34million in 2020, although his place in the team is uncertain if he returns to Stamford Bridge sooner than expected.

His Galatasaray career seemed to get off to a positive start after he appeared among the Galatasaray ultras and conducted a chant for his new teammates from the stands.

Ziyech stood on scaffolding as he directed the crowd and was later seen on the pitch wearing a Galatasaray shirt and scarf.
