Gadkari announces Urban Extension Road 2 opening during Prague visit

Union Minister for Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari made an announcement about the upcoming Road 2 urban expansion during an interaction with the Indian diaspora at the 27th World Transport Congress in Prague.

“Urban Extension Road 2, a bypass road will be opened in 2-3 months. Normally it takes 2 hours if you (people) come to Delhi and then go to airport but after this road opens you can reach airport in 20 minutes,” Gadkari said.

During his speech, Gadkari shared news about the upcoming opening of Urban Extension Road 2, a major ring road project in Delhi. He stated that the road would be commissioned within the next two to three months, which would revolutionize travel times in the city.

The development of Urban Expansion Road 2 is expected to significantly reduce travel time and congestion for commuters traveling to the airport and different parts of the city. This infrastructure project aims to improve connectivity and reduce traffic congestion in the Indian capital.

Minister Nitin Gadkari also said that India has set a target to become the world’s largest auto manufacturing hub in the next three to four years.

Gadkari said the size of India’s auto industry has increased from Rs 4.5 lakh crore rupees to Rs 12.5 trillion in the last nine years. The minister said the auto industry has given jobs to 4.5 million people in the country.

Nitin Gadkari also spoke about the government’s strategy to gradually move away from the use of diesel and petrol.

“All vehicles in Nagpur, such as tractors, buses and cars, run on bio-CNG… I have a dream to rid India of petrol and diesel… It is a difficult dream to achieve, but not impossible,” Gadkari said

Minister Gadkari was welcomed in a traditional ‘Maharashtrian manner’ upon his arrival at Prague Airport on October 1, where he was greeted by Indian Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Hemant Kotalwar.

His visit to Prague is part of his official tour, which includes participation in the ministerial session on road safety at the 27th World Road Congress.
