Gabby Agbonlahor DROPS Casemiro of Man United and Aston Villa XI combined to omit World Cup winner as ‘not great on the ball’… with £60million Mason Mount not even on the bench!

Gabby Agbonlahor DROPS Casemiro of Man United and Aston Villa XI combined to omit World Cup winner as ‘not great on the ball’… with £60million Mason Mount not even on the bench!

  • Gabriel Agbonlahor closes, claiming no Villa player will enter Man United’s XI
  • He left out two United players who have won the Champions League many times

Gabriel Agbonlahor has raised eyebrows by omitting two multiple Champions League winners from his combined Aston Villa and Man United XI.

The former Villa striker who was talkSPORT expert respond to a message from a listener who said no Villains player is getting into United’s first XI.

Agbonlahor was having none of the claim and was quick to name some players he thinks would make it.

But perhaps the former striker’s most shocking inclusion was John McGinn over Man United’s Casemiro, a player widely regarded as one of the best of his generation, who won the Champions League five times.

But Agnolahor remained unconvinced, claiming: ‘Midfield is quite easy for me. Casemiro, very good player, but not at his best and not in my midfield.’

“I have Douglas Luiz, excellent player, and John McGinn. Before them, in a free role, Bruno Fernandes. He must be there before Emi Buendia.’

He added: “What about the midfield, we have Douglas Luiz, John McGinn, we are blessed.”

But Casemiro wasn’t the only former champion of Europe to be turned down by Agonlahor, who clearly supported his former club’s stars over some of the more established names in world football.

Despite winning the World Cup with France, as well as four Champions League titles with Real Madrid alongside the aforementioned Casemiro, Raphael Varane was dropped from the side in favor of Villa’s Ezri Konsa.

Center half, either Tyrone Mings or Ezri Konsa comes in for Raphael Varane. Varane isn’t great on the ball, mate,’ Agbonlahor explained.

“He’s prone to injury… Varane’s injuries, he doesn’t play often, he’s not the Varane who won the World Cup, is he?”

Unhappy with United’s two notable omissions, Agbonlahor provoked the wrath of Red Devils fans by insisting that one of their newest faces wouldn’t even deserve a sideline seat in his combined squad.

Despite costing Erik ten Hag’s side around £60 million earlier this summer, Mason Mount was completely left out.

The ex-Villa star preferred John McGinn in midfield to Real Madrid and Brazilian icon Casemiro

But when asked why the England international had been overlooked, Agbonlahor replied simply: ‘He doesn’t even make the bench, mate.’

In total, Agbonlahor’s XI consisted of six Aston Villa players, with only five from Manchester United.

The other Villans to receive the call-up were Ollie Watkins up front with Moussa Diaby on the right, with Andre Onana displaced by World Cup winner Emiliano Martinez behind Konsa in defense and McGinn and Luiz in the centre.

Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martinez, Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Aaron Wan-Bissaka all made the XI.
