It appears Sam Kerr will remain in London for the foreseeable future, amid reports that her fiancé, Kristie Mewis, will join her in the UK.

According to The AthleticsUS international Mewis will leave NWSL team Gotham FC for Women's Super League club West Ham United.

The Hammers are based in East London, opposite Kerr's Chelsea in West London, meaning the loved-up couple will remain in the same city.

Mewis' move to London will come as no surprise to those who have paid close attention to the couple, with the pair making no secret of their desire to live in the same place.

Kerr and Mewis got engaged in September and announced the news last month, with the Australian getting down on one knee to pop the big question.

Mewis currently plays in the United States, while Kerr plays football in London

Mewis' impending move to West Ham will come as a welcome relief to Chelsea fans, who have been concerned about Kerr's future following the departure of coach Emma Hayes to the US women's national team.

Kerr and Mewis could come face to face on the pitch if the American's transfer goes through early next month, with the Hammers taking on Chelsea in the FA Cup on January 15.

Kerr and Mewis faced each other on the pitch on a few occasions, most notably on that occasion in Tokyo. The United States won that day and Kerr admitted she felt torn as she took the field.

“That one was really bad because it was such a *** time for me, and such a great time for Kristie,” she said.

“It's so hard to want someone to lose when you love them so much.”

Kerr and Mewis are icons in the LGBTQ+ community, who were thrilled when the couple announced their engagement last month, and the Australian made a light-hearted comparison to one of the most recognizable couples in the world.

“It's Harry and Meghan, and us.”
