Fury in ‘Drag act for BABIES’: A half-naked man in thigh-high boots performs a bondage routine in front of children and parents in a ‘sensory event’
- Images of the CabaBabaRave event sparked outrage
- A video showed a dancer dressed in bondage clothing performing for young babies
Images have emerged of dancers dressed in bondage gear and thongs doing a handstand in front of babies and parents in an “absolutely abhorrent” event.
The CabaBabaRave show bills itself as a “little slice of afternoon delight” interspersing cabaret with “captivating baby sensory moments” before “ending up in a rave.”
The footage showed a dancer dressed in bondage gear as she performed acrobatic sequences with straps dangling from the ceiling as babies and their parents looked on.
The video, believed to have been taken during an event at the Honor Oak Pub in south-east London, also shows another act doing a handstand on a chair while wearing nothing but stilettos and a thong.
The show was criticized as “absolutely abhorrent” and “disgusting” after the footage went viral on social media.
But organizers defended him, insisting that he was carefully cured and suggesting that the babies would not understand what was being done.

Sherlock actress Amanda Abbington even waded into the debate, tweeting: “I lost quite a few followers for saying a half-naked man in thigh-high boots who dances in a very sexualized way shouldn’t act in front of babies and says whatever I need to know about where society is headed. How come you don’t agree with me on this????’
Another reviewer said: ‘Absolutely disgusting. What kind of father would take his son to that?
A third added: ‘Why would anyone think it’s appropriate to bring their children to one of these events?’
One commenter said: “More concerned that parents think that kind of thing is appropriate and took their babies there in the first place.”

Expressing disbelief, one Twitter user said: ‘What parent (if we can call them that) in their right mind would subject ANY child to this?
‘What harm is being done to these young minds; parents are there to protect children from this type of behavior. Why is this allowed to continue?
Advertising for the pub show describes how the cabaret was created by two mothers who were “constantly looking for entertainment while holding a baby in one hand and a pint in the other”.
Promoting a Christmas show at Fox and Firkin, Lewisham, adds: “We wanted to create the kind of event that we ourselves as mums would want to go to.” There are only so many times you can hear the fucking wheels on the bus.
“We wanted to give parents the experience of a ‘big London night’… cabaret, drinks and dancing… but one where you can take your baby and be home by bedtime.”
CabaBabaRave has a sold-out show at The Vaults in Waterloo, south-east London, on March 11, while more events will take place until the end of May.
Event organizers said in a statement: “Just so our fans know, we’ve made our profile private for a while.” We’ve been the subject of a pretty horrible trolling attack… and it’s still happening.
“As mothers with young children and one of us late in pregnancy, this has become more stress than we can handle at this time. These trolls have a specific problem with drag performers and non-binary performers performing for children…which is exceptionally sad as those who have been to our event will know how much joy, love and happiness our shows bring.
‘As cabaret professionals, each of our shows is specifically designed for their advertised audiences. Shows for the very young babies – are more geared towards parents – new moms on maternity leave – providing a much needed ‘daytime night out’. Shows for slightly older children (0-5 years) feature performers who are carefully selected with family-friendly performances and costumes in mind.
‘It’s come to our attention that people are sharing particular images and videos from one of our events that was curated specifically for babies and very young parents…not ‘kids of all ages’ as it’s implied.
Movie theaters across the country have weekly “parent and baby screenings” of movies of all ratings… there are plenty of other “adult led events” designed to simply bring your baby along, as… should go without saying. Babies of a young age are unable to comprehend the plot of a thought-provoking intricate film… or comment on the latest exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery.
“Cabaret is a fantastic medium for showcasing a diverse and inclusive array of performing talent – a cabaret without drag, trans and non-binary performers is not a true representation of the art form and makes for an incredible story.”
