But the decision drew the ire of his teammates who refused to play in a prestigious tournament next week when Flynn denies the allegations.

And a parent of another player created a GoFundMe on Flynn’s behalf claiming that every water polo game is guilty of the violations he is accused of. The page has raised over $27,000.

Despite this, it is still being formally investigated by the university’s Title IX office, which regulates discrimination based on sex in sports.

Title IX regulations prohibit intentionally touching a complainant’s private body parts without consent.

These include the genitals, anus, groin, breasts, and buttocks.

Flynn’s attorney, Alison P. Flynn received ‘honorable mention’ at the 2022 All-American Nationals and is the older sister of Stanford and USA National Team player Jenna Flynn.

The GoFundMe, created by David Tedesco, notes that Title IX regulations are “so broad that every water polo game, men’s or women’s, is filled with these types of violations.”

It continues: “Based on these allegations, the UCI could expel Nina from the UCI and refer the matter to criminal proceedings or exclude her from the UCI women’s water polo team, among other sanctions.”

Flynn’s attorney said she fiercely denies the allegations against her.

Her teammates also boycotted the Barbara Kalbus Invitational on February 24-26.

The Kalbus tournament, organized by the UCI, is annually one of the biggest events on the women’s university water polo calendar.
