Furious Strictly fans claim star is ‘breaking the rules’ and accuse judges of giving them ‘special treatment’ in show first

Furious Strictly Come Dancing fans have claimed one star is ‘breaking the rules’ and accused judges of giving them ‘special treatment’ during a show on Saturday night.

Opera singer Wynne Evans, 52, is paired with professional dancer Katya Jones in the current series and this week they performed a Rumba for Icons week to Shirley Bassey’s song This Is My Life.

He scored a whopping 30 points for the routine by judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke.

But some viewers took to Twitter to accuse him of breaking show rules after the singer sang the last line of the song to end his routine and show off his incredible voice.

They said it wasn’t fair that he could show off the talents of his day job while others on the show couldn’t do the same – suggesting he was focusing more on dancing.

At the end of the dance, presenter Tess Daly said: ‘You blew the hair off the back of my arms there. That was something. We know Wynne can sing, but how was that rumba?’

Anton Du Beke was full of praise, saying it was “the best ending to any song I’ve ever seen in my life,” adding, “That was incredible.” I loved that.’

But fans said they felt it was unfair that he was allowed to sing, writing online: “Second week in a row Katya danced around a barely moving Wynne and singing is not dancing.”

‘Wynne singing over and over again during a dance competition was really unnecessary.’,

‘I’m sorry this isn’t a singing competition. How is it fair that Wynne gets to sing at the end? Always give him new rules and special treatment.’,

“Wynne just stood there while Katya danced around him and spent the last twenty seconds singing (if it’s not a singing show) just because she wanted more attention.”,

“Those scores do NOT match what he did. I repeat last week’s thoughts.’

However, others loved his singing as they wrote: ‘I really loved Wynne’s routine and the powerful and inspiring message it gave, not to mention the amazing vocal finish at the end! He can really be proud!’,

“Wynne may have sacrificed some dancing for his passion for song choice. But I did enjoy the performance.’

It comes after Wynne found himself in further controversy after a ‘vulgar’ joke he allegedly made behind the scenes was ‘leaked’.

It is said that he joked that his double chin resembled female genitalia when he was getting make-up done backstage.

Insiders claim Wynne made the distasteful joke ahead of the BBC competition’s glitzy launch show and said it was said in a private conversation with a make-up artist.

A source said The mirror: ‘It was a bit of an ordinary dad joke.’

The publication states that there was at least one other person in the room at the time, adding that the makeup artist was not offended by Wynne’s joke.

It is said that although no formal complaints were made, staff members were not happy about it.

The insider added, “Wynne obviously meant no offense, but you have to be a little careful these days.”

A friend of Wynne reportedly claimed that Wynne’s cheeky comment was “a bit of self-deprecating humor,” which he said confidentially to the makeup artist while others were present.

MailOnline contacted representatives from Strictly and Wynne for comment.

The alleged prank came weeks before the Welsh singer and actor became embroiled in a ‘wandering hand’ incident with his professional partner Katya.

Viewers saw the moment Katya removed Wynne’s hand from her waist and rebuffed his attempt at a high-five with her.

The dance partners then defended their awkward altercation during a live show a week ago.

The incident caused such concern among BBC top brass, who had spent months battling firefighting allegations of misconduct in previous series, that a welfare investigation was carried out.

Katya had confirmed that she had not felt uncomfortable and no further action was taken.
