Furious Netflix fans threaten to ‘cancel subscription’ over inappropriate new drama

Furious Netflix fans have threatened to ‘cancel their subscriptions’ after watching an explicit clip from a new X-rated drama.

Supersex is loosely based on the life of Rocco Tano, a simple boy from Ortona, Italy, who becomes Rocco Siffredi, the most famous porn star in the world.

The seven-part series stars Alessandro Borghi as Siffredi, whose humble beginnings are revisited as the plot navigates his extraordinary career as one of the most prolific adult actors of all time.

Since his debut performance in 1986, Rocco Siffredi has starred in more than 1,500 X-rated films and is credited with bedding more than 5,000 people.

The drama has been rated by Netflix exclusively for viewers aged 18 and over, but that hasn’t stopped fans from sharing their disgust at the ‘inappropriate’ content released by the steamy giant.

The steamy, second-long scene was posted to Netflix’s US Instagram page on March 7 before it was mysteriously deleted.

The short video featured the star of the show, Italian actor Alessandro Borghi, kissing and bumping into several scantily clad women.

However, the clip disappeared from Netflix’s US Instagram account after a few hours, although it is unclear whether the platform removed it due to user complaints, or if Netflix chose to remove it due to negative feedback from fans.

A number of Netflix users shared their disgust at the subject of the new controversial series, while others threatened to cancel their subscriptions altogether to protect their children.

In response to the comments under the now-deleted video, one person said angrily: ‘Do we now also have porn on Netflix? Cancel account while we’re talking, my kids can’t see this.’

Another parent wrote: ‘Isn’t this inappropriate for a platform where CHILDREN FOLLOW YOU?!’

Other users were shocked that explicit content was being ‘normalised’, with one person commenting: ‘Are we just making porn mainstream now? It’s quite sickening that there is no warning for explicit content like this.

‘Yet women who post a photo while breastfeeding are flagged. This should be a separate category on Netflix if you want to market this kind of thing.”

The short video featured the star of the show, Italian actor Alessandro Borghi, making out and bumping into several scantily clad women.

Another wrote: ‘It’s really sad that this is accepted in modern culture. The hypersexualization of our society and generation is depressing and demeaning to the value of both genders.”

Meanwhile, fans who watched the official trailer on Netflix’s YouTube channel shared their thoughts on the explicit series, with one person writing: “I’m not sure I like the direction Netflix is going.”

Another fan said: ‘What is going on with Netflix. Bring back the good stuff.”

A number of Netflix users shared their disgust at the subject of the new controversial series, while others threatened to cancel their subscriptions altogether to protect their children.

Francesca Manieri, the filmmaker behind the series, told the Independent: ‘My goal was to put men before themselves.

‘This is what we call the phallocentric system, the system in which the d*** is the center of thought before anything else.’

She added: “So what can you do now, (in) 2024, to understand the relationship between men and women? And how can men put themselves in front of the image of their token d*** and try to deconstruct it all?’

It comes after Netflix viewers were previously disturbed by the streaming site’s alien docuseries Raël: The Alien Prophet in February.

The four-part documentary covers the life of Claude Vorilhon – a French journalist who promised “out of this world” ecstasy and enlightenment to anyone who followed the teachings he claimed to have learned through his alleged alien abduction in 1973.
