Furious Michigan mom makes horror find in McDonald’s Happy Meal

A Michigan mom isn’t into it after she found a box cutter in her child’s McDonald’s Happy Meal, while another parent claims the same thing happened to her.

Dawn Paret shared photos on Facebook of the bright yellow box cutter her 7-year-old daughter found in her Happy Meal in Warren, Michigan, on Sunday.

“The amount of worry and anger that went through me – I’ve never experienced,” Paret said in her Facebook messagewhich received dozens of responses.

Shockingly, another Michigan mom—Kayla Almashy—told it WXYZ that she also found a Stanley knife in her child’s Happy Meal at a different location three weeks ago.

“My baby, as she always says, “Mommy, will you open my toys?” So she went to give me the toy and when I took it, it was a box cutter,’ Almashy said. “I was amazed.”

Paret shared photos on Facebook of the bright yellow box cutter her 7-year-old daughter found in her Happy Meal on Sunday in Warren, Michigan.

McDonald’s said in a statement that they have launched an investigation into the claims

Paret spoke to WXYZ and said she was shocked and angry that one of her children could have been injured if the box cutter ended up in the wrong hands.

“Anything could have happened, and that’s the scary part,” Paret said.

She opened the box looking for the toy, and he was setting up the 2-year-old. She turned around, looked at him, held him out and said, ‘Daddy, what’s this?’

In her Facebook post — which included photos of the box cutter — Paret said she was thankful it was her seven-year-old instead of her two-year-old.

The mother’s post has received dozens of responses from other parents urging her to call the company and contact an attorney.

“Call the company. Record them. See what they say AND call a lawyer. Immediately,” someone wrote under Paret’s status.

“I’m so glad nothing happened to your girls,” added another. “How scary!”

The mother said she has contacted the police and they are investigating.

However, Paret is still desperate for answers.

“McDonald’s I need an answer to WHY and HOW a box cutter ended up in the bottom of our daughter’s happy meal,” Paret wrote.

“I understand that accidents happen. It is normal. … I need to know exactly how this happened,’ the shocked mother said.

Another Michigan mom – Kayla Almashy – told WXYZ that she too found a box cutter in her child’s Happy meal three weeks ago at a different location. In the photo: Almashy

“My baby, as she always says, “Mommy, will you open my toys?” So she went to give me the toy and when I took it, it was a box cutter,’ Almashy said. ‘I was amazed’

After hearing Paret’s story, Almashy said she felt the need to come forward.

She picked up food from a McDonald’s in Brighton – about 40 minutes away from the restaurant Paret ordered from three weeks ago.

The mother said she immediately called the restaurant to look for answers, but got almost no real answers.

“I just wanted some sort of explanation. But there was nothing he could give me except to say, ‘Would you like a free apple pie or cookie?’” Almashy said.

According to the two women, restaurant owners said they have a box in their stores that is used as a “safety net” for random items in the kitchen.

“They basically just said they have a collectible box that’s a Happy Meal box, and someone took it by accident,” Paret said.

The mothers are now urging other parents to be extremely careful and check their children’s Happy Meals in the future.

“That’s why I brought it to Facebook, not to bash McDonald’s, but to make other parents more aware to monitor their kids’ meals, because I didn’t,” Almashy said.

“The safety of customers and employees is our top priority and we take these claims seriously,” McDonald’s said in a statement.

In a statement issued to USA todayMcDonald’s said they are looking into it.

“The safety of customers and employees is our top priority and we take these claims seriously,” the statement said.

“We have been in contact with affected customers and are continuing the investigation,” the fast food company said.
