Giannis Antetokounmpo was so furious when he was ejected after Milwaukee’s win over the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night that he sat in the front row of fans to briefly protest.

Antetokounmpo was assessed a second technical foul for taunting a Pistons defenseman after a towering dunk that put the Bucks ahead 73-60 with nine minutes left in the third quarter.

It came after he was previously called for his first technical with just under four minutes left in the first half.

Antetokounmpo had 15 points β€” on 6-of-16 shooting β€” and nine rebounds in 22 minutes, but didn’t see out the game.

He was shocked when the officials penalized him for taunting – a ruling that certainly seemed harsh.

‘It’s an emotional game. He made a phenomenal play,” Bucks coach Adrian Griffin said.

‘It was exciting, emotional and I thought he moved on quite quickly. So I was surprised with the second technical competition, but that’s up to the competition to decide.”

Damian Lillard scored 34 points and Bobby Portis added 18 as the Bucks rallied to a victory in the absence of their star man.

β€œIt’s another big night in terms of finding a way to win,” Griffin added. ‘I thought it was a gusty victory. A lot of guys stepped up.”

Cade Cunningham scored 33 points and Marcus Sasser 26 for the Pistons, who were missing six players due to illness and injury.

Detroit, which led by 10 points midway through the fourth quarter, had a 115-112 lead after two Cunningham free throws with 1:39 remaining.

Lillard scored on a drive and added a jumper from the lane to put the Bucks up 116-115.

Brook Lopez hit a 3-pointer to increase Milwaukee’s lead to 119–115 before Cunningham scored a 3 to cut the Pistons’ deficit to 119–118.

The Bucks missed their next possession, but the Pistons turned the ball over with nine seconds left.

β€œThat was the shot of the night,” Lillard said of Lopez’s 3-pointer.

β€œJust having a guy who can protect the paint along the way, knowing you’re sending guys to him. But also knowing that he is the kind of threat of three. I had all the confidence in the world when he took the shot and it was a big shot.”

Jae Crowder hit the second of two free throws with 3.9 seconds left to make it 120-118.
