Furious England fans rage at Kieran Trippier after Phil Foden sees goal against Slovakia disallowed for offside
- England had a goal disallowed in the 50th minute against Slovakia on Sunday
- A VAR review ruled out the goal for offside against ‘scorer’ Phil Foden
- England fans blame Kieran Trippier for passing to Foden instead of shooting
England fans expressed their frustration after Phil Foden saw a potential equalizer disallowed against Slovakia in the knockout stages of Euro 2024 on Sunday.
Foden was handed an injury penalty after VAR ruled him offside before tapping the ball into the net four minutes after the break in Gelsenkirchen.
The Three Lions were 1-0 down at the time, having fallen behind to an Ivan Schranz goal midway through the first half.
The English fans were far from impressed, both in the stadium, where the half-time signal was greeted with loud boos, and at home.
But many fans did not blame Foden for finding himself in an offside position. Instead, social media was full of angry England supporters furious with Kieran Trippier for passing at him.

Foden’s goal would have put England at 1-1 had it not been disallowed by the VAR team
An angry fan tweeted: ‘Why didn’t Trippier shoot? FFS! If we had a natural left footer there that would have been a goal.’
Another wrote: ‘Why the f*** didn’t Trippier shoot. He was so clearly offside.’
One comment read: ‘That’s embarrassing of trippier, why wouldn’t you shoot?’
Trippier was eventually substituted in the 65th minute, but he was not replaced by the only natural left-back in the England squad.
With Luke Shaw still unfit, Gareth Southgate opted to replace Trippier with Cole Palmer.
