Funny signs in restaurants and cafes: chefs furiously leave a note with eating rules

Why the restaurant’s ‘cheeky’ note to ‘entitled and privileged diners’ divides thousands: ‘All chefs should be doing this’

  • Restaurant refuses guests who make custom meals
  • The staff put up a sternly worded sign to warn customers

A restaurant has sparked controversy by instructing “privileged” customers who want to “adjust or change” their menu to stay home or go elsewhere.

A sign on the door of the restaurant slams ‘entitled’ diners and suggests that those with allergies eat elsewhere because the staff simply cannot ‘provide the service they need’.

Many applauded the down-to-earth attitude and praised the direct approach of the establishment, while others were shocked by the “rude and disgusting” message.

‘No means no. Do you belong to the small group of people who live a life and are entitled to a privileged life?’ The board reads.

“Maybe your mom took the onions out of your salad, added the dressing, or replaced your veggies. However, here all meals are served exactly as we prepare them. We do not offer adapted meals.

A strict sign at a restaurant where chefs refuse to accommodate diners with allergies or modify meals has divided foodies

“Remember, we’re not your mother and we’re certainly not ghosts who will make all your wishes come true.”

Jozef and Nathalie listed alternative choices for the “privileged,” including hiring a private chef, cooking for yourself “just the way you like,” trying another establishment, or accepting their hospitality.

We’ve been cooking for almost 50 years. We have many nice, friendly people, acquaintances and families who have been coming for decades,” they wrote.

“So look around, it’s a pleasure to see their happy smiles and provide them with our best possible food.”

The mysterious eatery posted a sign slamming “entitled and privileged” diners who modify meals and suggest that those with allergies eat elsewhere

The message also included an allergy warning advising diners with food intolerances to take their business elsewhere.

‘It is simply not possible to guarantee every product used in this kitchen. In addition, we don’t have the qualifications to provide you with the service you need,” they said.

The board was posted online and caught the attention of thousands, with many praising the “honesty” as “brilliant.”

“Amen, the public isn’t always right. And actually, they usually aren’t. This establishment has ample right to post this. Just eat at home if you have food allergies. Or go to a restaurant that specializes in these issues,” one user wrote.

“You know what’s going on from the start. It’s one restaurant. If you don’t like it, there are so many others you can go to… No need to search. Just go somewhere else. Some of us would enjoy a restaurant like this,” another commented.

“Oh, I wish more places did that!” one agreed and another added, “Love them!” I will visit this place often’.

However, the board was met with a lot of backlash, with many people criticizing the harsh stance for being “snarky” and “rude.”

“I wouldn’t want to eat there again after reading that,” said one woman, and another commented, “And they’ll be out of business in a year.”

“If you are unable or unwilling to provide your guests with what they need or even provide service, it may seem better to be honest, but this message is rude and disgusting. Don’t look for a job in service positions and then complain,” said a third.

Scare those people. I go out to eat for fun and enjoyment. It may be their restaurant, but it’s my money and I’ll spend where I’m treated best,” one customer replied.

Unwritten meaning: “Your dietary restrictions make us angry.” I know it complicates your life too, but we’re too exhausted,” one man joked.
