Donald Trump is the best president in American history and on a par with Sir Winston Churchill, his son Eric claimed yesterday as he arrived in Scotland.
The 40-year-old man said his father and the British wartime leader share similar character traits: both men are funny, politically incorrect and blessed with an indomitable fighting spirit.
Speaking at the family’s new MacLeod Trump International Golf Links course in Aberdeenshire, named after the former president’s Scottish mother, Mary Anne MacLeod, he added: ‘He is the best president his country has ever had.
‘You could draw a lot of parallels with Churchill for my father. Sometimes they were funny and maybe politically incorrect, but also incredibly effective.
“The fact that my father was as effective as he was, the fact that he wants to be a cheerleader for our country instead of a globalist, the fact that he wants no wars and an end to reckless spending and the best economy and the safest borders, no fentanyl and no drugs and the best education system on earth — that’s why people love him.

“And they also like him because he’s a fighter and he doesn’t try to be politically correct. He says what everyone thinks. He can’t be bought and sold like any other politician, because he doesn’t need their money.”
Referring to the attempted assassination of his father at a rally in Pennsylvania on July 13, Trump said: “When he stood up and he had blood running down his face and he was chanting, ‘Fight, fight, fight,’ that was exactly what our country needed.
‘There is currently no fighting in our country.’
The businessman, who is the third child of the Republican presidential candidate and his ex-wife Ivana, says the US Secret Service has questions about the security lapses that nearly cost his father his life.
He said, “It should never have happened. It was a failure to keep a former president and a future president safe.”
“Think of the draconian outcome that could have had for world history.” Trump turned his attention to the presidential election, now that Kamala Harris is the Democratic nominee after President Joe Biden withdrew, saying: “Kamala Harris is not a fighter.
“There is no energy there. The Democrats are not cheerleaders and they are not advocates for the United States. They are not effective, their policies are broken.”
He added that while Ms Harris was responsible for artificial intelligence policy in government, she couldn’t spell ‘AI’. Under her rule, America had taken in 12 million illegal immigrants, or ‘two Scotlands’.

Trump heaped praise on the mother of their two children, saying she could “100 percent” be in the White House one day.
He added: ‘She’s beautiful. She’s smart. She’s tough. She’s amazing in every way. There’s no doubt she can do it.’
Trump has also been linked with a run for president, but he stresses that it will cost him financially if he runs, as the Trumps are “the first family in American history to lose significant wealth” while in office.
He added: “We’ve spent hundreds of millions of dollars on legal fees because that’s the Democrats’ strategy.
‘They dragged him to all the courts, they subpoenaed us all for fun.
“They tried to take us down, they tried to kill him. And yet we fight on and yes, I think I could do the political thing as well as anyone if I chose to do it. I just don’t know if I’ll choose to do it.”
