Fuming Arne Slot declares himself ‘far from pleased’ as he tears into Liverpool performance – despite making it six wins from six against Girona in the Champions League
Arne Slot said on Tuesday night he was ‘far from satisfied’ with his team, despite Liverpool beating Girona to make six from six in Europe.
Mohamed Salah’s second-half penalty allowed the Reds to maintain their 100 percent Champions League record and all but secure their passage to the knockout stages.
But Slot was not happy with his side’s performance and said: ‘If you ask me about all six games, I am very satisfied with all the results. I am very satisfied with the first five games, but I am far from satisfied with tonight’s performance.
‘What was I not happy about? I was not satisfied with much. When you play against a team that has such a good idea of football and knows how to bring the ball forward from the back, like some of the teams we have played against recently, like Real Madrid and Manchester City, then you be as intense as you want to make it difficult for them.
“But if you wait a few seconds to press them, this team can cause you a lot of problems. I almost feel sorry for them because they deserve so much more.
‘We have an incredible goalkeeper. But the other thing is that every time we lost the ball, we weren’t aggressive enough and they were able to go almost all the way to our goal and make a shot.
‘We hardly had control over the match. Maybe the second half was a little better, I’m trying to be positive.’
Arne Slot did not want his team to rest on their laurels after sneaking past Girona
