A truck has lost its load on Fullers Road in Sydney’s northern suburb of Chatswood, causing a major spill that has left hundreds of crushed oranges and vegetables strewn almost 100 metres down the road.
The incident, dubbed an “improvisational fruit market,” occurred just before 6 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
Jack Hahn from Channel 9’s Today show said he didn’t expect the produce to fetch much if it went on sale because it was “in pretty bad shape”.
He said the spill, which also contained garlic, was in lane one towards the Pacific Highway.
“Traffic is still passing in lane two,” he told 2GB’s Ben Fordham.
According to Hahn, it appeared that the mesh on the left side of the truck had come loose.
Transport personnel on site are trying to clean up the ripe spill.
