Major brands are preparing to close stores this week as they continue to be plagued by the cost of living.

While retailers have felt the pinch since the pandemic, customers are cutting back on their spending as the increase continues inflation.

Meanwhile, skyrocketing energy costs and the shift to online shopping are also taking their toll, leaving many high street shops struggling.

M&Co

M&Co will close 38 of its stores for good this week The sun.

The chain will definitively close the doors of all 170 branches this year.

M&Co will close 38 of its stores for good this week, it has been confirmed

MRS

Marks & Spencer is closing another of its branches this week.

The store in Castleford, West Yorkshire, closes on Saturday.

The chain has already closed several branches, including in London.

It comes as the company announced it plans to close 67 of its stores over the next five years.

New look

Fashion chain New Look will also close the doors of one of its branches this week.

It comes after a series of closures earlier this year, which saw stores in Birmingham and Coventry close for good.

Now it has confirmed that its branch in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire, will no longer operate from Wednesday.

According to data from UK ATM network LINK, there are 332 bank closures planned for 2023.

  • Gloucestershire (Kingswood) – April 20
