‘Respond with a better RB’: Fulham mock tribute to Chelsea’s Reece James by responding with photo of Man of the Match Kenny Tete in hilarious Twitter exchange after Stamford Bridge deadlock
Fulham mocked Chelsea in a hilarious Twitter exchange after the Blues asked social media users to “respond with a better RB” than Reece James.
It came after the two west London teams ended a 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge on Friday night.
It was a good day for the right-backs, with James returning from injury in a big boost for Graham Potter, while Fulham’s Kenny Tete was awarded Man of the Match for this impressive display.
The Dutchman led the standings for duels won (10), crosses (seven) and fouls committed (four).
His performance was so impressive, in fact, that Mykhailo Mudryk, who was playing on the left flank, worth £88m, was replaced by Graham Potter at half-time.
There was nothing separating Chelsea and Fulham on Friday night and neither could break the deadlock at Stamford Bridge.
James, in top form, felt like another new Chelsea signing with a strong performance, and throughout the first half, Chelsea’s Twitter channel was full of praise for him.
The club tweeted: ‘Reply with a better RB’ along with a king emoji.
But still with the excitement of a point well earned, Fulham responded on Saturday morning simply with a photo of Tete holding his Man of the Match award.
They later added: ‘You come to the King, you better not get lost.’
The two teams met just three weeks after meeting at Craven Cottage, a game in which Fulham won 2-1 and new signing Joao Félix was sent off on his debut.
Indeed, after that contest, Fulham were in fine form on social media too, tweeting ‘#AdiosJoao’ in a dig at when Chelsea used Spanish to welcome the Portuguese star.
But with neither team being able to find a goal on Friday, Fulham are now sixth in the table, while Chelsea reel in ninth.
It was a better point for Marco Silva’s in-form side who faced a Chelsea side fueled by £323.5m in new signings, including £107m Enzo Fernandez, who impressed on his debut.
The return of Reece James was a huge boost for Graham Potter, with the right-back impressing on his return.
