A fugitive murder suspect has been captured after illegally crossing the Mexican border into Texas while on the run from the law.
Leo Acosta Sanchez was arrested by Splendora police during a traffic stop on May 24.
The suspect, who was on Interpol’s wanted list, was identified by police while driving and then stopped.
Officials said Sanchez had been living illegally in Splendora, Texas and was traveling to her residence in Terrenos.

According to police, she is now facing charges in connection with the alleged crimes.
The department released a statement on Sanchez’s arrest, saying they were working with Homeland Security to arrest her.
“The Splendora Police Department, working with Federal Law Enforcement Partners, successfully apprehended a fugitive murder suspect wanted by Interpol. The suspect, who was illegally in our state and country, was known to travel between the city and her residence in Terrenos.
During a routine patrol, vigilant Splendora police officers identified the wanted person behind the wheel of a vehicle and immediately called for backup.

According to police, she is now facing charges in connection with the crimes she is suspected of committing
“Following the arrival of additional units, a traffic stop was conducted, which led to the immediate arrest of the driver, identified as Leo Acosta Sanchez.
In a joint effort with the Department of Homeland Security, Ms. Sanchez was taken into custody to face charges in connection with the alleged crimes.
“The Splendora Police Department commends the quick and effective collaboration with our federal partners in securing the apprehension of this dangerous individual.”
The department also posted photos of Sanchez handcuffed and sitting in the back of a police car.
Officials have not yet clarified what crimes Sánchez allegedly committed or what charges she currently faces.
