- National Donut Day is celebrated on Friday, June 7
- See where you can scoop up a free sweet treat to commemorate the day
National Donut Day is just around the corner and six chains are offering free donuts in celebration.
The National Day of Tribute to the Sweet Delicacy is celebrated every year on the first Friday of June.
The commemoration began 86 years ago, founded by the Salvation Army in honor of their ‘Donut Lassies’.
The Lassies were female volunteers who traveled to France to care for wounded soldiers during World War I.
Their nickname came from their habit of making donuts to boost the soldiers’ morale.
