From Ed Hardy to Balenciaga: Kim Kardashian looks back at her cringey catwalk debut in 2006

Just before making her couture runway debut, Kim Kardashian reflected on her very first runway run… for Christian Audigier’s Ed Hardy brand in 2007.

Kim, 41, has been a long-time supporter of Balenciaga, though she walked the runway for the fashion brand during the Season 2 finale of Hulu’s The Kardashians, during Couture Fashion Week in Paris.

While preparing for the show and meeting with Balenciaga’s lead designer, Demna Gvasalia, Kim reflected on her Ed Hardy runway debut.

The episode cuts back to Paris, where Kim goes back to meet Demna and adds confession, “I don’t know why I’m nervous about this, but I am.”

“It’s just really bad when a head designer of a house wants to start a relationship and you only have one chance,” Kim says in a confession, adding, “I will never disappoint anyone and that’s just who I am.” I always want to be easy to work with and be efficient and professional and get the job done.”

Demna takes a look at the outfit and adds, “I love the way it looks. It looks nice. However, we don’t see the back.’

Nervous: The episode cuts back to Paris where Kim goes back to meet Demna and confesses adding, “I don’t know why I’m nervous about this, but I am”

Kim turns around when we see her long blonde hair covering the bare back of the dress, as Kim immediately suggests that they can put her hair in a bun, while Chris approaches her and makes it happen.

“I like seeing the back,” Demna adds, asking Kim if it’s really her first time walking a fashion show.

‘Yes. I mean I was walking… don’t laugh… I was walking a show… you know like Ed Hardy? 2006? So that was my LA Fashion Week debut,” Kim says as they show off throwback snaps of her walking the runway 16 years ago.

“So yeah, I’ve evolved,” Kim jokes, while Demna adds, “With everything we’ve done together, it’s perfect, you know.” I wouldn’t say it’s expected because people don’t expect you to run the show. They expect to see you on the show. But what I love.’

Kim arrives at the Balenciaga show and adds confession: “I still don’t know in front of all these cameras and people and live stream… it’s really nerve-wracking, but it’s such a nice surprise I think for people to see I’m on the show, I’m excited.’

A producer asks Kim when she finished, as she says she finished at 2 a.m. and had to get up at 7 a.m. and set her alarm for 6:55 a.m.… but she woke up alone at 6:48, afraid she was missing something.

Getting ready to walk the catwalk, Kim follows several models with black plastic shields over their faces, while Kim walks without a shield.

Kim walks back with a white rose, adding confession, “I’m so glad it’s done. That was like a bucket list experience.”

She says backstage that she couldn’t even look at North, while Kris confesses that North was “beaming” at her and they were “all so excited.”

Kris says she wanted to cheer, but Kim says she learned from Kendall, “you don’t.”
