From butterflied chicken to houmous and cheap yoghurt – here are the eight best products available at Aldi as voted by Aussie shoppers

Aldi customers have voted for their favorite purchases from the supermarket for 2023 – and now the winners have been revealed.

The retailer announced winners in eight categories in its annual People’s Picks awards.

More than 380,000 votes were cast by shoppers for their favorite food must-haves, from a roast chicken to feed the whole family, to a stain-removing laundry detergent and some budget lunchbox snacks.

There was a mix of returning winners and newcomers that made it to number one in all categories.

Taking out the BBQ Boss award was the Jindurra Station Porterhouse Steak 200g, which costs just $7 and is perfect for those looking for quality meat for their summer barbecue without breaking the bank.

The number one spot in the Life of the Party category went to Deli Originals Fresh Traditional Style Hommus $2.29 for the second year in a row.

The delicious and creamy dip was previously rated as the best on the market in terms of taste and value for money by consumer researchers at CHOICE.

Yogurt’s $2.29 Protein Yogurt was hailed as this year’s Good Health Hero because it’s not only high in protein, but 99 percent fat-free.

The Time Lord Award named the best purchase that is quick and easy to prepare and this year it went to Seasons Pride $4.99 Potato Gratin.

ALDI Australia shopping expert Kylie Warnke said the tasty sides have become a ‘staple’ in her fridge.

“Making potato gratin from scratch is a time-consuming process with lots of slicing and dicing and not to mention cleaning,” she said.

“This delicious cut of meat doesn’t need much prep, I like to brush mine with olive oil with a little salt and pepper and barbeque it for a few minutes on each side.”

The Lunchbox Legend went to Snackers Market Colby Cheese and Rice Crackers for $3.99 for a four-pack.

“As a parent, I can totally understand the pain of pulling an untouched box out of your school bag at the end of the day, so this product has been voted a winner by parents and will surely never come home untouched!” Kylie said.
